Minute 40–55 — Confirm & remediate

• If unresolved, escalate to wider engineering and set follow-up timeline beyond the hour.

Minute 55–60 — Stakeholder updates

• Update executives every 15 minutes with concise status: “Situation — what we see; Impact — estimated $ and scope; Action — what we ran; Current state — resolved/in-progress; Next step — ETA.”
• Provide final update at 60 minutes with confirmed resolution or clear next-step timeline and owner for permanent fix and postmortem.

After the incident

• Lead a blameless postmortem: timeline, root cause, permanent fixes (tests, monitoring, alerts), and documentation of data lineage and dashboards.
• Implement automated checks: row-count vs expected, reconciliation tests between dashboard and transactional source, and alerting for large divergence.

This approach balances speed, clear ownership, parallel investigation, safe mitigations, and transparent executive communication.

Situation: I own the BI deliverable for the quarter and will co-present insights with the product leader to the executive team.

Approach:

1. Clarify objectives and decisions
