Approach (quick triage and escalation):

1. Clarify scope (5–10 min): Ask the exec the exact question they need answered, the decision it will inform, and what format (slide, table, visualization). Prioritize one clear metric/insight that drives the board decision.
2. Assess data gaps (10 min): Quickly inspect dataset to identify missing fields, freshness, and obvious integrity issues. Note which fields are required vs. nice‑to‑have.
3. Escalate appropriately (10 min): Message manager and data engineer with a succinct summary of gaps, impact, and a clear ask (“Can you restore table X or confirm last available timestamp?”). If no response, escalate to the exec’s EA or another stakeholder who can approve scope reductions or provide alternate data sources.
4. Execute focused analysis (40–80 min):
   • Use the most reliable, available data source (e.g., latest warehouse snapshot or cached dashboard).
   • Apply pragmatic cleaning rules and document them (e.g., drop records missing critical IDs; impute minor gaps using last-known values).
   • Produce a single high‑value deliverable: one slide with headline conclusion, supporting chart/table, and one recommended action.
5. Communicate compromises and caveats (throughout and in deliverable):
   • State explicitly which data were unavailable, what assumptions/imputations were made, and how they might bias results.
   • Provide confidence level (high/medium/low) and sensitivity note: “If field X changes by Y%, recommendation may reverse.”
6. Follow‑up plan (final): Offer to run a deeper analysis within 24–48 hours once data is restored; include next steps and owners.

Why this works: It maximizes executive value under time pressure by focusing on the decision, using the most reliable data, making explicit tradeoffs, and ensuring transparency so the board can judge the result’s reliability.
