Approach: Classify signals by utility, cost, and replaceability, then apply tiered retention and aggregation.

1. Inventory & score signals by: troubleshooting value (critical/diagnostic), frequency, cardinality, and storage cost.
2. Keep (hot storage): High-diagnostic signals (crash stacks, error rates, trace spans) with low cardinality or high ROI—retain raw for short window (7–30 days).
3. Aggregate (warm): High-cardinality usage signals (per-user events) rolled up to daily/hourly cohorts, percentiles, and histograms—retain aggregated form longer.
4. Drop or sample (cold): Low-value, noisy signals—either drop, sample deterministically, or store sketches (HyperLogLog, Count-Min) to approximate counts.
5. Safety nets: On-demand ephemeral captures (short-lived, consented) and automated retention policies tied to incident workflows.
6. Monitoring: Periodic review, KPI to measure diagnostic success vs storage saved.
   Trade-offs: Balance granularity against cost; use sketches and deterministic sampling to preserve reproducibility while minimizing storage.

Goal: attribute subscription revenue across multiple touchpoints with limited cross-device identifiers. Constraints: privacy, fragmented identity, subscriptions spanning devices.
Methodology:

1. Create a probabilistic identity graph combining deterministic signals (Apple ID, subscription token) and privacy-safe probabilistic linking (device fingerprinting hashes, IP/geo + time-window) with confidence scores. Primary key: subscription_id (deterministic); map touchpoints to subscription_id when possible.
2. Attribution model: multi-touch fractional model weighted by recency, engagement, and channel lift. Steps:

• For deterministic-linked events (App Store discovery click, in-app events), assign higher weight.
• For probabilistic links, scale weight by confidence score.
• Use a time-decay kernel (e.g., exponential) to weight touches before subscription event.
