Build Your IT Career While Doing Work That Matters
Family Promise of Spokane exists to end family homelessness one family at a time. Our IT Specialist helps make that mission possible by making sure technology doesn't get in the way of our staff serving families.
This is a hands-on, entry-level IT position designed for someone who has a genuine interest and aptitude for technology and wants the opportunity to build their skills. You do not need years of professional IT experience or an IT degree to be successful in this role.
You'll provide day-to-day technology support to our staff while receiving structured, hands-on training and ongoing mentorship from an experienced IT advisor.
We're looking for someone who is curious, dependable, patient, coachable, and comfortable saying, "I don't know yet, but I'll find out."
What You'll Do
As our IT Specialist, you'll be the first point of contact for many of our everyday technology needs. Your work will include:

A Built-In Opportunity to Learn
This position includes structured, hands-on training and ongoing mentorship from Family Promise of Spokane's IT advisor.
We expect you to come in with foundational technical ability — not to know everything already. Over time, you'll build your skills by troubleshooting real issues, receiving coaching, documenting what you learn, and taking on increasingly challenging IT support work.
Work Environment
This is an on-site position, not a remote IT role. You'll primarily work in Family Promise of Spokane's shelter and housing-program environment and may occasionally move between FPS locations to support staff or equipment.
Our environment can be busy and unpredictable, and interruptions are a normal part of the workday. This is not a direct-service position, but you will work in an organization serving families experiencing homelessness and will be expected to maintain professional boundaries, confidentiality, and respect for everyone in our community.
The position requires regular computer and keyboard use, frequent sitting, standing and walking, occasional bending and reaching, frequent lifting or carrying of equipment weighing up to 25 pounds, and occasional lifting or carrying of up to 50 pounds. Reasonable accommodations are available for qualified individuals.
Benefits & Professional Development
Benefits for part-time employees are based on eligibility under current Family Promise of Spokane policy and scheduled hours. Available benefits may include:
