Job Summary

The IT Security Associate is primarily responsible for monitoring systems for security breaches, analyses threats, implements security measures, and conducts vulnerability assessments. They also assist with incident response, develop security reports, and ensure compliance with security policies. This role is an entry-level position providing foundational experience in cybersecurity.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Monitoring and Analysis:

o Actively
monitor networks for suspicious activity, analyze security threats using tools
like SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) and logs, and investigate
security incidents.

• Security Implementation:

o Implement
and maintain security controls, enforce security policies, and recommend
security enhancements.

• Vulnerability Management:

o Conduct
vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify weaknesses in
systems and applications.

• Incident Response:

o Participate
in incident response activities, helping to contain and resolve security
breaches.

• Documentation and Reporting:

o Develop
security reports, maintain security documentation, and communicate security
status to relevant stakeholders.

• Compliance:

o Ensure
adherence to security policies and standards, and participate in audits to
assess compliance.

• Collaboration:

o Work
with IT teams to implement security best practices and provide security
awareness training to staff.

Technical Competencies and Skills

• Technical Skills: o Familiarity with security technologies, networking concepts, operating systems, and security tools. Knowledge of scripting and programming languages is often beneficial. • Analytical Skills: o Ability to analyze security threats, identify vulnerabilities, and interpret security logs. • Problem-Solving Skills: o Ability to troubleshoot security issues, develop solutions
