Role Summary

As a Senior Data Engineer Lead, you will architect, build, and scale next-generation healthcare data infrastructure supporting analytics, Business Intelligence, Artificial Intelligence, and Revenue Cycle Management solutions.

You will lead the design and development of scalable data pipelines, data warehouses, data lakes, data marts, and data integration solutions, while providing technical direction across data engineering initiatives.

Working closely with Data Analytics, Data Science, BI, DBA, Application, Product, and Business teams, you will translate business and technical requirements into robust, secure, and scalable data solutions.

Your work will directly support high-volume claims processing, automated business rules, and complex financial reporting for healthcare networks, insurance payers, and regulatory stakeholders across the MENA region. JD-Senior Data Engineer Lead

Primary Responsibilities

Data Architecture & Platform Engineering

• Design, build, and maintain scalable and reliable ETL/ELT pipelines processing high-volume healthcare data from multiple sources.
• Develop and maintain enterprise Data Warehouses, Data Lakes/Lakehouses, and Data Marts.
• Design dimensional models, fact and dimension tables, semantic models, and data structures for analytics.
• Implement incremental loading, Change Data Capture (CDC), Slowly Changing Dimensions (SCD), and data reconciliation mechanisms.
• Optimize data pipelines and queries for performance, scalability, and reliability. JD-Senior Data Engineer Lead

Data Governance, Quality & Security

• Establish and maintain data quality, lineage, observability, and monitoring frameworks.
• Implement data validation, reconciliation, completeness, and quality checks.
• Support data catalogues, metadata management, data dictionaries, and data ownership initiatives.
• Ensure appropriate security, access control, masking, and protection of sensitive healthcare and personal data.
• Establish monitoring and alerting mechanisms for pipeline failures and data-quality issues. JD-Senior Data Engineer Lead

Analytics, BI & AI Enablement

• Develop curated and trusted datasets to support BI, AI, and Machine Learning use cases.
• Enable reliable data access for Power BI and other analytics platforms through trusted data and semantic layers.
• Support data requirements for RAG, LLM, and conversational analytics solutions.
• Partner with Data Scientists to productionize ML data pipelines and features.
• Implement CI/CD and version-control practices using tools such as Git/GitLab.
• Develop deployment and release processes for data pipelines and database objects. JD-Senior Data Engineer Lead

Technical Leadership & Team Management

• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of Data Engineers and Database Specialists.
• Provide technical leadership across data engineering initiatives and promote engineering best practices.
• Own the technical design and implementation of complex data pipelines and data-platform components.
• Review data architectures, data models, ETL/ELT designs, and code developed by the team.
• Collaborate closely with BI & Analytics, AI/ML, Product, and Business teams to translate business requirements into high-performance data solutions. JD-Senior Data Engineer Lead

Job Requirements

Education

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Engineering, or a related quantitative field.

Experience

• 6–10+ years of experience in Data Engineering, ETL, Data Warehousing, or related areas.
• Strong SQL and database development experience, including performance tuning.
• Strong experience with SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle, or equivalent databases.
• Hands-on experience with ETL/ELT tools and orchestration frameworks.
• Strong understanding of Data Warehouse architecture and dimensional modelling.
• Experience with cloud data platforms, preferably Google Cloud and/or Azure.
• Experience with Python for data engineering and automation.
• Experience with Git and CI/CD practices.
• Strong understanding of data quality, governance, and security.
• Experience working with large-volume and complex datasets.
• Ability to independently troubleshoot performance and production data issues. JD-Senior Data Engineer Lead

Healthcare Experience — Preferred

Experience in Healthcare IT, Hospital Information Systems, Revenue Cycle Management (RCM), Claims, or Insurance is highly desirable.

Knowledge or experience with:

• HL7, FHIR, NPHIES, or healthcare interoperability.
• Clinical, billing, claims, payer, and provider data.
• Healthcare data privacy and PII/PHI handling.
• Healthcare platforms such as Cerner, Epic, Oracle Health, or similar systems. JD-Senior Data Engineer Lead

Technical Competencies

• Advanced SQL and database development.
• Data processing and orchestration using technologies such as Apache Spark, Airflow, dbt, Kafka, or AWS Glue.
• Data Warehousing technologies including Snowflake, BigQuery, AWS Redshift, or Databricks.
• Cloud ecosystems including AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD tools.
• Advanced experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL and SQL Server, as well as NoSQL technologies such as MongoDB and DynamoDB. JD-Senior Data Engineer Lead
