Research Vision and Broader Impact Questions

Evaluates the ability to articulate a long term research agenda and the broader societal, scientific, or product impacts of that agenda. Candidates should be able to identify important open problems, explain why they matter, describe plausible paths for technology transfer or adoption, assess ethical and equity implications, define success metrics for long term impact, and describe how short term experiments and milestones connect to a multi year roadmap. This topic also covers prioritization of directions, interdisciplinary opportunities, and how research can influence standards, public policy, or community practice.
