Hands on ability to author and maintain automated tests and small test harnesses. Candidates should write clear, maintainable automated tests using frameworks such as Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium; select stable selectors and meaningful assertions; structure tests with setup and teardown, fixtures, and page object or component patterns; handle asynchronous behavior and timing issues; mock or stub external services where appropriate; write parameterized and data driven tests; and explain techniques to reduce flakiness and improve execution speed and reliability. Interview tasks may include implementing a test, debugging a flaky test, or refactoring tests for maintainability.
