Description
The Accounting Specialist is responsible for managing core accounting operations, financial reporting, tax compliance, cost accounting, and account reconciliations within a manufacturing or FMCG environment. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the accuracy of financial records, monitoring product costing and profitability, supporting audit requirements, and maintaining compliance with statutory and regulatory standards. The position works closely with Production, Sales, Supply Chain, Treasury, and external stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate financial information that supports business decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting and General Accounting
Prepare and review monthly financial reports, trial balances, schedules, and supporting documentation.
Perform month-end and year-end closing activities in accordance with company policies and accounting standards.
Analyze books of accounts and general ledger transactions to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance.
Monitor accruals, provisions, and account balances and recommend necessary adjustments.
Assist in the preparation of management reports and financial analysis for decision-making purposes.
Cost Accounting and Profitability Analysis
Prepare and analyze product costing reports, sales performance reports, and gross profit analyses.
Monitor manufacturing costs, raw material consumption, overhead allocations, and inventory-related transactions.
Review standard costs and actual production costs and identify variances affecting profitability.
Partner with Operations and Supply Chain teams to validate costing assumptions and inventory movements.
Support management in evaluating product margins, pricing strategies, and cost optimization initiatives.
Taxation and Regulatory Compliance
Prepare and file tax returns and ensure compliance with BIR regulations and statutory requirements.
Perform BIR reconciliations and maintain accurate tax records and supporting documentation.
Coordinate with government agencies, auditors, and tax consultants during audits and assessments.
Ensure timely submission of compliance reports and regulatory requirements.
Reconciliation and Controls
Conduct bank reconciliations, account reconciliations, inventory reconciliations, and intercompany reconciliations.
Investigate discrepancies and implement corrective actions to resolve accounting issues.
Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and financial procedures.
Recommend process improvements to strengthen financial controls and operational efficiency.
Audit and Stakeholder Coordination
Prepare audit schedules and supporting documents for internal and external audits.
Coordinate with Treasury, Operations, Procurement, Sales, and external stakeholders regarding accounting matters.
Support management in special projects, financial analysis, and process improvement initiatives.
Perform other duties that may be assigned by management.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Accountancy.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is required.
At least 3 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably within a manufacturing, FMCG, food and beverage, or consumer goods environment.
Strong background in general accounting, cost accounting, inventory accounting, taxation, and financial reporting.
Familiarity with manufacturing costing, inventory management, and supply chain-related accounting processes.
Proficient in ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
