Description
RESPONSIBILITIES: Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Controller is responsible for recommending and administering all accounting policies and ensuring that strong internal controls and cost-effective transaction processing routines protect the school's assets and result in efficient, meaningful, timely, and accurate financial reporting.
Essential duties include: Obtaining proficiency in using all applicable software systems used in the Business Office and possessing the ability to train others to use the software and preparing, monitoring, and reporting on the general ledger and the annual budget. Assist and acts as back-up monitoring checking account cash balances. Coordinates and gathers data for audits, taxes, compliance reports, and risk management. Monitor department budgets and investigate material variances. Coordinate audit work required for annual audit, including work papers, financial statements and footnotes for annual report. Gather and prepare information required for preparation of annual Form 990 tax returns and related State tax returns. Gather and prepare information required for miscellaneous tax forms as required, including monthly sales tax, Indiana forms for charitable gaming (raffle), and IRS form 945 for raffle winning, etc. Assist with the review of all endowment gift agreements and planned giving instruments, recommend appropriate net asset classification, set up new endowment accounts. Reviewing monthly investment and gift reconciliations. Supervise and provide guidance to the Campus Store, Uniform and Laundry Department along with the Warehouse and Post Office.

REQUIREMENTS:
• Must possess a bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent business experience. Certified Public Accountant licensure preferred.
• Prior experience in a not-for-profit environment, especially gift and endowment management, is desirable.
• Must have excellent leadership and managerial experience and demonstrated passion and experience coaching and developing staff.
• Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
• Highly developed computer skills using Microsoft Office Suite with strong Excel skills.
• Must possess the ability to work under the pressure of many priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
