SPECIFIC TERM - 2 YEARS
YOUR ROLE
Reporting to the Deputy Director, Project Process and Financing, the Content Analyst collaborates with the Feature Film Fund team to support decision-makers on creative matters for projects in the Atlantic Region and across Canada. As a key member of the team, the Content Analyst:
- Evaluates the creative content of projects applying for production funding within a complex, dynamic and ever-changing creative environment, while providing feedback and content notes and reports to decision makers on the creative elements of the project for which funding has been requested.
- Tracks and provides ongoing support for assigned projects throughout their active time at Telefilm Canada.
- Attends screenings of the first and final cut of a film and provides feedback/opinions.
- View the applicant's previous films and evaluate the track record of producers, writers, and directors.
- Participates in preparing external readers’ committees by selecting members, providing training and support throughout the jury process, and facilitating deliberation sessions.
- Contributes to the development of guidelines and initiatives related to content analysis and creative elements.
- Participates in industry events such as festivals and panels to share Telefilm’s programs, and initiatives.
- Supports the team in staying informed about industry trends by watching films and regularly updating market knowledge.
QUALIFICATIONS
- University degree in a related field or other combination of equivalent and relevant experience;
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in the film and television industry and feature film script development, with a solid understanding of feature film financing;
- Has solid expertise in the concept, writing and development of scripts for fiction feature films.
- Ability to evaluate the creative and audience potential of projects at the script stage through development production and distribution/marketing;
- Superior communication skills, both oral and written in English, knowledge of French is an asset.
