Company: Instrument Development Company (IDC)

Location: Instrument Development Company

Schedule: Part-Time Summer Program (Monday–Thursday, up to 20 hours per week)

Department: Rotational Program – Manufacturing & Quality

Program Overview

IDC’s Student Program provides hands-on experience for students interested in manufacturing, engineering, quality, and skilled trades. Students will rotate through multiple departments to gain exposure to real-world manufacturing operations, teamwork, and industry processes within a fast-paced defense manufacturing environment.

This program is designed to help students build workplace skills, learn manufacturing fundamentals, and explore future career opportunities.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Assist team members with daily production and operational tasks
  • Learn and follow IDC safety and quality standards
  • Rotate through departments including:
    • Quality
    • Assembly
    • Machining
    • Turning
    • Finishing/Deburring
    • One Degree Room
    • Secondary Operations
  • Support inspections, documentation, organization, and general shop activities
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Follow instructions from supervisors, trainers, and mentors
  • Demonstrate professionalism, punctuality, and willingness to learn
  • Participate in team meetings and training opportunities

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • High school student, technical college student, or recent graduate
  • Interest in manufacturing, engineering, quality, or skilled trades preferred
  • Strong attendance and reliability
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Basic computer and communication skills preferred
  • Must be 16 or older

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to safely work in a manufacturing environment
  • Use of required personal protective equipment (PPE)
