Base pay in range will be determined by applicant’s skills and experience. Full-time associates in role are also eligible for an annual bonus incentive. Temporary associates are not benefits eligible but may participate in the company’s 401(k) program.

Contributes to the development of the communication and engagement strategy; consults with leaders at all levels to craft and deliver timely, effective, and meaningful communication plans and products; writes & edits stories, blogs, capsules, features, profiles; conducts executive interviews and focus groups; measures & evaluates communications to support Brookdale Senior Living’s strategic goals, engagement improvement, mission and culture.
- Leads communication planning and execution
- Collaborates with executive, senior and functional leaders to create, manage and implement communication plans and products that fully engage audiences to support Brookdale’s business strategies and goals, mission, and culture
- Coaches teammates, internal clients and subject matter experts in the use of leading communication and engagement practices
- Develops and maintains an editorial calendar that maps communications projects, initiatives and recurring themes for each major function he/she supports
- Identifies communication gaps, develops clear, concise messages and content and uses appropriate vehicles to support initiatives
- Designs and executes strategic communication projects with key stakeholders and executives to support and/or promote cross functional projects and initiatives
- Oversees design, development and production of user-friendly communications and job aids for complex programs to meet the needs of varied audience segments
- Counsels leadership at multiple levels to identify opportunities that improve engagement, company performance, cohesion and culture related to assigned projects and initiatives
- Tracks and measures effectiveness of communication strategies using available tools and resources

Education and Experience
Bachelors’ degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations or related field required and 5-7 years of marketing, communications, employee engagement, or organizational development experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong emphasis on demonstrated creative writing skills and strategic thinking. Experience working with multiple levels of business leaders and sensitive information. Previous manager level experience preferred.

Knowledge and Skills
Superior creative writing, editing and proofreading skills for web and print, including working knowledge and application of AP style
Ability to synthesize multiple perspectives into clear, concise, engaging messages for diverse audiences
Excellent relationship-building and interpersonal communication skills
Customer service attitude and commitment to supporting company culture and mission
Self-directed with the ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines under pressure
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
Ability to respond appropriately to confidential and sensitive issues
Competent understanding of graphic design best practices and marketing concepts
Solid command of Microsoft Office including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
Experience with Adobe Creative tools (e.g., Acrobat, Photoshop or Fireworks, Dreamweaver, InDesign) helpful
Experience designing surveys and conducting focus groups helpful
