Description

Position Description 

The Experienced Staff Accountant will play a key role in assisting with the Monthly and Quarterly Financial Statement closes for STX Entertainment.  The position will report to the Controller.   

Responsibilities:

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Prepare Journal Entries – Including but not limited to:
    • Revenue recognition
    • Amortization of theatrical
    • Theatrical bad debt reserve
    • Digital revenue accrual
    • Reclasses necessary for classified balance sheet
    • Debt
  • Prepare Monthly/Quarterly Account Reconciliations
  • Review bank reconciliations and ensure that all cash entries have been recorded
  • Prepare audit and roll-forward schedules for external audits
  • Research pronouncements to validate proper accounting GAAP treatment
  • Prepare the revenue recognition memo for new theatrical titles
  • Ad hoc requests to support the Accounting & Finance functions

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • CPA, desirable with 1-3 years of public/private experience in Entertainment (Big 4 experience desired, mid-tier public accounting experience is acceptable).
  • Participation experience desired
  • Theatrical Film and Digital Distribution experience a plus
  • Exposure to production accounting a plus
  • Proficient understanding of NetSuite a plus
  • Excellent verbal & written skills
  • Advance knowledge of Excel
  • Understanding of accounting principles and accounting functions
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines

Desired skills:

  • Ability to work independently and complete duties and projects with little supervision
  • Must have excellent organizational skills
  • Hands-on
