Our team: The Global Corporate Communications team works to build, protect, and advance Pearson’s reputation around the world. In LATAM, the team partners closely with regional leadership, commercial teams, and global functions to ensure Pearson’s voice is clear, consistent, and relevant across Brazil and priority markets in the region.

About the Role:

We are looking for an experienced corporate communications leader to join Pearson as Principal, Corporate Communications for LATAM. This is a high-profile role with regional responsibility, leading communications, public relations, executive positioning, and issues management across Brazil and priority markets in Latin America. You will design and deliver an integrated communications programme that connects local commercial priorities with Pearson’s global strategy, strengthening our reputation and helping our stories reach the right audiences with clarity and impact.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a senior communications advisor to regional leaders, providing counsel on media strategy, executive positioning, thought leadership, and issues management.
  • Lead proactive external communications and media relations initiatives, including storytelling campaigns, influencer programmes, and thought leadership opportunities.
  • Partner closely with the LATAM CEO and senior stakeholders to develop strategic content, including speeches, op-eds, press releases, talking points, and social media campaigns.
  • Navigate sensitive issues with speed, sound judgment, and consistency, helping protect and strengthen Pearson’s reputation across the region.
  • Manage the LATAM agency of record, ensuring strong execution, clear priorities, and measurable return on investment.
  • Collaborate with global communications, marketing, commercial, and functional teams to align regional initiatives with broader business priorities.
  • Support internal communications initiatives that help employees connect with Pearson’s strategy, culture, and purpose.

Required skills and experience:

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in corporate communications, public relations, executive communications, and issues management.

  • Strong understanding of the LATAM media landscape, with deep knowledge of Brazil and regional stakeholder dynamics.

  • Proven ability to develop and execute high-impact communications campaigns across complex, fast-moving markets.

  • Credibility and confidence to advise senior leaders, including on media engagement, executive visibility, and sensitive issues.

  • Excellent writing and editing skills across multiple formats, including press materials, executive content, thought leadership, and social media.

  • Experience managing crisis communications, change communications, and complex stakeholder environments.

  • Highly collaborative and influential, with the ability to build trusted relationships across regional, global, and cross-functional teams.

  • Comfortable working in a global, fast-paced environment, balancing strategic thinking with hands-on execution.

  • Data-driven and agile, with the ability to anticipate external trends and adapt communications strategies accordingly.

  • High levels of professionalism, resilience, integrity, and strong alignment with Pearson’s culture and values.

  • Fluent in English and Portuguese. Spanish is a nice to have.

  • Master’s degree, or equivalent experience, in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
