About the Role

Lead Critical Electrical Projects in a Tier 1 Mining Environment

Proactive Projects is partnering with a Tier 1 mining operator to deliver a major capital works program, and we are seeking a high-calibre Electrical Project Lead to drive project execution on site.

This is a hands-on leadership role with full accountability for delivering electrical infrastructure projects in a complex, operational environment. You will be embedded within the capital projects team, leading from the front to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high technical standard.

What You'll Be Responsible For

• 
  End-to-end delivery of electrical capital projects from planning through to commissioning and handover
• 
  Ownership of scope, cost, schedule, and risk across multiple concurrent workstreams
• 
  Leading contractors and site teams to drive safe and efficient execution
• 
  Managing stakeholder relationships across operations, engineering, and delivery teams
• 
  Ensuring disciplined project controls, reporting, and governance
• 
  Identifying risks early and implementing practical, outcome-focused solutions
• 
  Maintaining alignment between project delivery and operational requirements

Project Scope & Exposure

You will be leading a diverse portfolio of electrical capital projects across both surface and underground operations, including:

• 
  High voltage infrastructure upgrades – including 11kV switchgear replacements and circuit breaker upgrades
• 
  Motor control and drives – replacement and upgrade of variable speed drives (VSDs) and MCC systems
• 
  Underground infrastructure & technology – delivery of communications, wireless networks, and power systems
• 
  Asset replacement & obsolescence management – upgrading ageing electrical equipment to improve reliability and compliance
• 
  Site services & infrastructure – supporting upgrades across facilities, safety systems, and operational infrastructure

These projects are critical to maintaining safe, reliable operations while modernising site-wide electrical systems.

Key Technical Experience Required

To be successful, you will have experience delivering projects involving:

• 
  Medium to high voltage electrical systems (including switchgear and protection)
• 
  MCCs, VSDs, and industrial motor control systems
• 
  Electrical asset replacement within brownfield mining or heavy industrial environments
• 
  Working in live operational sites with strong focus on safety and minimal disruption
• 
  Contractor management and coordination across multiple concurrent workstreams
• 
  Integration of communications, control, and electrical systems in underground environments

About You

You are a delivery-driven project leader who thrives in site-based environments and takes ownership of outcomes.

You will bring:

  Proven experience leading electrical projects within mining or heavy industry
• 
  Strong capability managing multiple projects or workstreams simultaneously
• 
  Practical understanding of construction, installation, and commissioning of electrical systems
• 
  Confidence engaging and influencing stakeholders at all levels
• 
  Solid commercial judgement across cost, schedule, and risk
• 
  A proactive, solutions-focused approach to project delivery

Qualifications

• 
  Engineering qualification or equivalent industry experience
• Project management experience within capital delivery departments
• 
  Current Driver's Licence
