About This Role:
Veranex has an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Director of Design Engineering. You will be part of a team working to improve lives globally through medical technology innovation. The Director of Design Engineering is a leader that bridges industrial design, engineering and product development. Focused on turning concepts into manufacturable design solution. Oversees, manages, coordinates, and prioritizes activities of the design engineering and prototyping staff.
What You Will Do:
- Lead, mentor and coach the Design Engineering & Prototyping team across all projects.
- Lead the vision, execution, and best practices of Design Engineering within the PDE organization
- Foster a culture of continual improvement, quality, and creative problem solving
- Review and drive process improvements and ensure consistency across teams.
- Close cross-functional collaboration with other functional teams (i.e. Industrial Design) to support product success and client delight
- Stay ahead of emerging prototyping technologies, methods, and tools to encourage innovation
- Manage budgets, forecast workloads, and optimize resource allocation.
- Collaborate with senior leadership and clients to align engineering efforts with business goals.
- Contribute to business development and client retention initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with FDA, QSR, and ISO standards.
Qualifications
Required skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Product Design, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial design, or related field.
- 8-12+ years of relevant work experience, including 3-5 years as a proven functional manager
- Deep knowledge of medical device development and regulatory environments
- Excellent communication and decision-making skills
- Project leadership experience in managing cross-functional teams and strategic initiatives
