Key Responsibilities
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following (although you might also receive assignments involving other duties):
Strategic Thinking and Business Acumen
• Consider the comprehensive needs of the client (with a big-picture focus), such as long-term initiatives and the client’s ecosystem.
• Apply business, industry, and organizational trends to consultations.
• Provide input into bid/scope opportunities.
Client Engagement and Consulting
• Build trusted relationships with clients, colleagues, and teams.
• Lead strategic conversations and content analysis sessions with executive stakeholders and subject matter experts to confirm content, gather feedback, define design requirements, and assess client readiness.
• Analyze new work to recommend performance-based, learner-centric, and innovative solutions that meet client goals within their constraints.
• Design and present learning and evaluation strategies tied to the client’s key performance indicators (KPIs) and goals to drive business performance.
• Evaluate client materials and recommend enhancements to learner experiences.
• Identify client environment factors that could affect performance.
• Triage feedback from internal and client reviews, facilitating the changes with junior designers.
Project and Team Leadership
• Adhere to the project lifecycle, your role, and your financial responsibilities.
• Lead design efforts, collaborating among cross-functional teams, setting the vision for the project and guiding junior designers.
• Collaborate to determine team responsibilities and coordinate with internal resources, such as visual design, software development, or account management, to ensure alignment.
• Anticipate and mitigate risks to the project’s success.
• Lead retrospective sessions to share lessons learned and best practices from the project.
• Provide consultative oversight and leadership for design process improvements.
Learning Experience Design
• Create learner personas.
• Create learner journeys and other visuals or stories to help clients understand your solution recommendations.
• Design with creativity and innovation for various modalities, audiences, and evaluation strategies.
• Graphically share your ideas and vision to gain client buy-in.
• Draft high-quality, client-ready deliverables (such as outline, detailed designs, storyboards, facilitator or participant materials, scripts, and one-the-job materials) that meet design, timeline, scope, and budget expectations.
• Review designers’ deliverables for consistency, design integrity, and alignment with the objectives.
• Work with quality assurance to meet editorial, functional, and accessibility standards.
Professional Development and Knowledge Sharing
• Demonstrate curiosity, synthesize information, and apply current instructional design theory, best practices, and industry standards.
• Share expertise with colleagues within and outside the business unit.
• Participate in initiatives to grow the design team’s capabilities.
• Present during regional or global meetings, events, or training.
Operational Excellence
• Use appropriate tools and software effectively.
• Maintain accurate documentation using the project’s file management conventions.
• Effectively manage multiple priorities and projects, raising conflicts as needed.
• Work, learn, and communicate effectively in a remote environment.

Qualifications
Minimum education (or experience) includes:
• A bachelor’s or master’s degree, preferably in fields such as mass communication, journalism, English, technical writing, or another relevant field, or any other field
• 8 to 10 years of experience in commercial instructional design
Certifications in instructional design or Modern Learning Design will be an added advantage.
