Description
The Accounting Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the Accounts Payable (AP) and Payroll functions, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in financial operations. This role combines technical accounting expertise with team leadership, focusing on process improvement, people development, and the overall welfare and engagement of the team.
Key Responsibilities
1. Accounts Payable & Payroll Management
Oversee end-to-end Accounts Payable processes, including invoice processing, vendor management, and payment runs
Manage payroll operations, ensuring timely and accurate salary disbursement, statutory compliance, and reporting
Review reconciliations related to AP and payroll accounts
Ensure adherence to internal controls, company policies, and regulatory requirements
Coordinate with external auditors and government agencies when needed
2. Team Leadership & People Management
Supervise, mentor, and develop AP and Payroll team members
Conduct regular performance reviews, coaching sessions, and career development planning
Foster a collaborative, accountable, and high-performing team culture
Manage workload distribution and ensure team productivity and efficiency
3. Process Improvement & Growth
Identify and implement process improvements, automation, and system enhancements
Drive standardization and scalability of AP and payroll processes
Support finance transformation initiatives and continuous improvement projects
Analyze key metrics and provide insights to improve operational performance
4. Team Welfare & Engagement
Promote a positive work environment focused on employee well-being and engagement
Act as a point of support for team concerns, ensuring issues are addressed proactively
Encourage work-life balance and sustainable team practices
Partner with HR and leadership on engagement initiatives and retention strategies
5. Reporting & Compliance
Prepare and review reports related to AP, payroll, and related financial data
Ensure compliance with tax laws, labor regulations, and company policies
Assist in month-end and year-end closing activities
Maintain accurate documentation and audit trails
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
CPA or equivalent certification preferred (but not required for strong candidates)
5+ years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or senior role
Strong experience in Accounts Payable and Payroll processing
Familiarity with ERP/accounting systems and payroll platforms
Experience using the Sprout Payroll platform is highly preferred
