Role: Assistant Director of Compliance

Contract Type: Permanent

Working Hours: 37 hours per week

Worker Type: Hybrid Worker

Salary: SLMG2 - Starting Salary is £84,633 (Level one) rising to £94,946 (Level four), pending pay award

Location: Base location will be Loxley House, NG2 3NG, however, the postholder will be expected to be able to visit any sites within Nottingham City on a regular basis.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and results‑driven Assistant Director of Compliance to join the Housing Services Leadership Team at Nottingham City Council. This pivotal role provides strategic and operational leadership to ensure our homes are safe, compliant and centred on tenant wellbeing. You will lead on building safety, the “Big Six” statutory compliance areas, and divisional health and safety, translating strategy into clear plans, measurable outcomes and strong governance.

You will oversee a robust assurance framework, ensuring accurate data, effective risk management and audit‑ready evidence at all times. Working collaboratively across services and with partners, you will champion continuous improvement, drive regulatory readiness and foster a high‑performing, inclusive culture where diverse perspectives are valued.

As a visible leader, you will engage colleagues, councillors, tenants and regulators, providing clear, honest advice and building confidence in our compliance position. This role is central to achieving excellent regulatory outcomes and strengthening trust with our communities by delivering safe, high‑quality housing services for all.
