Responsibilities
The IOC Network Operations Specialistwill focus on the following as well as other job-related duties and/or projects as assigned.- Provide Tier 2 escalation support for complex cloud network incidents, ensuring timely resolution within SLA targets.
- Monitor cloud network performance and availability, proactively identifying and addressing service degradations.
- Perform advanced troubleshooting across switching, routing, firewall, and interconnect environments to restore services quickly.
- Lead technical investigation and contribute to root cause analysis for major or recurring incidents.
- Execute and validate approved network changes in accordance with change management processes.
- Support hybrid cloud connectivity, backbone services, and customer interconnections to maintain reliable service delivery.
- Collaborate with Tier 3 engineers, vendors, carriers, and internal teams to resolve escalated infrastructure issues.
- Maintain accurate operational documentation, runbooks, and incident records to support IOC effectiveness.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to Tier 1, DC Techs, enhancing IOC capability and knowledge depth.
- Participate in on-call rotations and major incident response activities.
Requirements
- Post-secondary education in a relevant field such as computer troubleshooting, and repair is considered an asset.
- 2- 5 years of directly related experience, ideally in data centers or similar operational environment.
- Experience supporting and developing a team of technicians responsible for maintenance and repair of computer hardware.
- Experience or certifications with Fortinet products, including FortiGate, and FortiSwitch, are highly desirable. Candidates with transferable skills from Cisco's Nexus and Firepower product line are encouraged to apply. Experience in a fast-paced growth environment.
- Ability to travel and work flexible hours to support the organization.
- Core network skills (CCNA or equivalent).
- Computer troubleshooting capabilities (CompTIA A+ or equivalent).
- Operations in a data centre environment and understanding of the associated components (fiber optic, network switches, PDU’s, etc) is an asset.
- Awareness of safe work practices in a live data centre environment, including electrical safety, working at height where applicable, and safe handling of rack-mounted equipment.
- Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with executive leadership, service providers and various personnel.
- Demonstrated trouble shooting and problem-solving skills.
- Superior time management and multitasking skills with a strong sense of urgency and ownership.
- High energy and confident individual with demonstrated organization, prioritization and critical thinking skills as well as proven active listening skills.
- Superior attention to detail with an excellent command of English grammar as well as.
