The Manager Early Detection and Cancer Outreach Program at Our Lady of the Lake serves as a vital connection between the hospital and the surrounding communities, focusing on enhancing cancer prevention and screening efforts. This role is responsible for developing strategic partnerships and implementing best practices for community engagement and Guest Services for the Cancer Institute. The manager maintains and coordinates a comprehensive calendar of outreach events, ensuring successful execution of cancer awareness and screening initiatives.

- Public Relations
- Develops strategic relationships and engagement with communities.
- Builds and sustains community relationships and represents the organization in a positive manner.
- Administrative Duties
- Project management, event coordination and office work to engage the community and build partnerships that benefit the organization.
- Maintains data and reports for cancer screening events.
- Develops and maintains relationships with community organizations, schools, etc and assists with community activities that support the goals of the organization. May include identifying and preparing team members to participate in community events.
- Establishes and oversees administrative procedures of the Oncology Guest Services team members.
- Direct activities of professional and technical staff members and volunteers.
- Recruit, interview, and hire or sign up volunteers and staff
- Cancer Outreach
- Conducts targeted outreach and facilitate access to care for underserved populations, specifically surrounding the area of cancer screening and prevention and ensuring inclusion and outreach to diverse and underserved/under-represented communities.
- Will serve as an advocate and liaison between OLOL and community agencies and the populations served.
- Communicates with clinicians and providers to support care for patients diagnosed with cancer.
- Follows up with patients to provide referrals and support as needed.
- Government Collaboration
- Participates in parish, city and other coalitions to promote OLOL Cancer Institute and identify opportunities for collaboration.
- Links community to cancer care and other services at the cancer institute.
- Cancer Screening Program Management
- Provides oversite of the patient management software.
- Manages the lung cancer screening program. Responsible for maintaining reports, addressing operational issues, and implementing programmatic strategy.
- Collaborates with internal leaders to improve cancer screening rates for existing patients.
- Experience: 3 years of public health and community engagement experience
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Public Health, Health Administration, or related field
- Skills and abilities: active listening, attention to detail, interpersonal, planning and organization, effective communication, customer service
