But we didn't stop at providing housing. Breaking Ground's programs and services help people experiencing street homelessness - especially those who have been on the streets the longest - to come indoors. Through our Street to Home outreach program and transitional housing resources, we help people get, and stay, on the path to a permanent home.
Reporting to the Controller, Accounting Operations, the Payroll Manager manages the accurate and timely processing and administration of payroll for non-union and union employees. They ensure the accuracy of the payroll and makes adjustments as needed; and ensures compliance with laws and taxes. The Payroll Manager supervises a payroll team and provides support and customer service for the organization’s employees.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee the preparation and processing of three bi-weekly and one weekly payrolls. This includes reviewing and ensuring accuracy, investigating discrepancies, and verifying that transactions comply with policies and procedures
- Ensure compliance with city, state, federal, wage processing and withholding regulations
- Supervise Payroll team
- Coordinate efforts between Payroll, Human Resources, and other departments to ensure proper workflow and maintenance of employee records
- Ensure accuracy and adequate controls for payroll
- Liaise with auditors and assist the Controller with internal/external payroll and tax audits
- Respond to payroll inquiries from employees, resolve discrepancies, and provide payroll-related guidance
- Prepare, manage, and process payroll related reports, including
- management reports
- quarterly and year-end reconciliations
- third party sick pay adjustments
- ACA reports for the Bureau of Labor Statistics and Worker’s Compensation
- audit requests
- Complete reviews and analysis of payroll and provide and review reporting as needed
- Review and process W2s
- File 1095s
- Remain up to date and provide direction on changing U.S. employment tax legislations, FLSA and state wage law, and garnishment administration
- Perform other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) strongly preferred
- Expert level experience with Dayforce required
- Minimum of five years of payroll experience with multi-site payrolls and union payroll complexities; preparing and filing 1095s, W2s, and third-party sick pay required
- Minimum two years of supervisory experience required
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite programs including Word, Outlook, Microsoft Teams, and advanced skills in Excel
- Demonstrated commitment to accuracy and meeting critical deadlines
