Position: Data Governance & Metadata Scientist
LCAT: Mid
Location: SOUTHCOM HQ, Doral, FL / Off-site
Office: U.S. SOUTHERN COMMAND J2

Required clearance: No
Required education: Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Information Management, GIS, or a related field, or five (5) years of equivalent experience in data governance, metadata management, or geospatial data integration. 
Description:
  • Establish and maintain metadata governance frameworks, ensuring compliance with DoD data management policies and interoperability with a Data Catalog.
  • Develop automated metadata tagging processes to improve data discoverability, classification, and lineage tracking within the Common Intelligence Picture (CIP) platform.
  • Implement and manage data governance workflows, ensuring integration with OpenLineage, Unity Catalog, and GIS metadata standards.
  • Submit the Metadata & Data Governance Compliance Report, detailing lineage tracking, classification policies, and security enhancements.
Required Experience: 
  • Possess the knowledge and capability to develop, implement, and maintain data governance frameworks, ensuring metadata consistency, lineage tracking, and interoperability between Data Lake, ESRI Kubernetes environments, and external data sources.
  • Must be proficient in metadata management, data lineage tracking (Unity Catalog/OpenLineage), schema alignment, and governance best practices.
  • Expertise in geospatial data standards, data cataloging, and compliance with DoD metadata policies is required.
  • Must have demonstrated experience in implementing metadata governance frameworks for structured and unstructured data in cloud-based environments.
  • Must have demonstrated experience in tracking data lineage and ensuring metadata synchronization across a Data Catalog, ESRI Kubernetes, and enterprise metadata repositories.
  • Must have demonstrated experience in utilizing OpenLineage, Apache Atlas, or similar tools for metadata and data lineage management.
  • Must have demonstrated experience in enforcing compliance with DoD metadata policies and NSG tradecraft standards for geospatial datasets.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP)
