Kira Systems is hiring a Quality Engineering Specialist to work as part of the technical team of our rapidly growing Software Development group.

We are currently good at testing …. but we want to take good to great! Our developers test their own code, we have some automation suites, we do new feature testing and run well organized internal Beta programs with every release. So, to take us to the next level, we need a talented Quality Engineer who can help us expand our test coverage, especially in the non-functional testing area and automated system testing areas. We expect the successful candidate to be able to work with code, just as we expect our developers to do testing. Our application has a clustered architecture using Clojure and ClojureScript, and deals with high volume workloads in unpredictable bursts.

Responsibilities

• Working closely with our developers and other testing stakeholders, will develop approaches to non-functional testing and evolve current approaches to regression testing.
• Help look at tools for system-level testing and UI testing and implement automated improvements in these areas.
• Develop test management tools, automated reporting of regression tests (eg dashboards), and ways to integrate test coverage tracking with requirements management tools.
• Plan and estimate efforts to perform tests over each release cycle.
• Continuously drive improvements in how we do testing of Kira software.
• Works closely with development, support, systems, and other Kira stakeholders involved in ensuring our software is of the highest quality.
• Provides guidance in the preparation of technical appraisals of testing tools and software.

Requirements

• Ability to work independently, as part of a software team, and as a contributor within distributed virtual teams.
• Communication, project management skills and problem solving skills across functional lines.
• Experience with Agile methodologies and fixed-cycle iterative methodologies.
• Experience designing and performing non-functional testing, including performance, load and stress testing, in a large scale distributed application environment.
• Knowledge of Java, C++, Linux, PostgreSQL or other SQL, and AWS helpful. Candidates with experience on Lisp type languages, eg Clojure, will be favoured.
• Experience with Test Management tools and Test Automation tools essential.
• Strong understanding of QA process, test verification and validation methodologies.
