Description

As an Inside Territory Manager you will support MMG’s growth by partnering with independent agents and internal teams to drive profitable business. This role involves developing agency business plans, prospecting new appointments, monitoring market conditions and assisting the team with underwriting tasks and development of new products.
This role is a hybrid role, based in our Richmond, Virginia office.
What You'll Do:
  • Provides assistance to underwriting, claims, customer service, and information technology in solving problems and misunderstandings with agency personnel.
  • Develops business plans for all assigned agencies, reviews results monthly, and takes appropriate actions to meet annual goals and objectives.
  • Applies extensive knowledge of the marketplace to provide market intelligence to management in areas of coverages, programs, and rates from competitors.
  • Completes required weekly and monthly territory reports for management.
  • Provides education to agency personnel on company products and services.
  • Analyzes market penetration in assigned territory and prospects for new agency appointments as needed. Develops proposals for new agency prospects for management review and approval.
  • Evaluates territory for growth opportunities including book transfer. Refers any growth opportunities to management for review and approval.
  • Recommends and implements cancellation of agency appointments as needed.
  • Upon request from Underwriting, will inspect and appraise risks for acceptability and make recommendation to underwriter.
  • Develops and maintains strong, positive working relationships with both Company and agency personnel, as necessary, which may include visitation and attendance at various conventions and meetings. (May include overnight stays.)
What You Bring:
  • 2-5 years of insurance distribution or underwriting experience
  • P&C Insurance License
  • Demonstrated success in sales or premium growth roles
  • Self-motivated and ability to work independently
  • Highly organized, self-starter
  • Strong analytical and business development skills, metric driven
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time

The essential functions of this position include supporting the internal team and agents, onboarding agencies, and evaluating territories for growth opportunities. These responsibilities require prolonged computer use, strong attention to detail, and effective verbal and written communication.
