Crestron Electronics is seeking an entrepreneurial and visionary Director of Business Development to lead and transform our approach to engaging the design build community—custom home builders, interior designers, architects, and other key partners in luxury residential construction. This role is not only about expanding our market presence and driving product specification—it’s about reimagining the way Crestron develops long-term partnerships within this critical vertical. This leader will lay the foundation for a scalable business development program, including building out a high-performance team.
Director of Business Development reports directly to the Vice President of the Residential Division and operates with a high degree of independence. While responsible for setting strategy and executing initiatives with minimal day-to-day oversight, the Director maintains close alignment with senior leadership through scheduled planning sessions, performance reviews, and cross-functional steering meetings. This role requires a high level of initiative, self-direction, and accountability, while also fostering a strong feedback loop with executive stakeholders to ensure efforts remain aligned with Crestron’s broader residential growth objectives.
This position operates with a high degree of autonomy and strategic authority. The Director of Business Development is empowered to develop and execute long-term engagement strategies, establish key partnerships, and influence go-to-market approaches within the design build community. They are expected to work cross-functionally to align internal resources, make independent decisions that impact business growth, and directly represent Crestron to industry stakeholders. In addition, this role has the latitude to shape and scale a new business development framework, including building out a supporting team structure with the necessary tools, talent, and processes to deliver measurable impact.
In this role you will:
- Create and execute a bold, forward-thinking business development strategy tailored to the design build ecosystem.
- Lead efforts to redefine how Crestron approaches partnership development, specification influence, and brand advocacy among builders, designers, and architects.
- Establish key relationships with top-tier custom home professionals to increase Crestron’s visibility and inclusion in early-stage design conversations.
- Collaborate closely with marketing, product, and sales to develop compelling content, programs, and education tools targeted at this audience.
- Identify opportunities to embed Crestron’s technology into standard workflows and platforms used by architects and designers.
- Serve as a brand ambassador at industry events, conferences, and client engagements.
- Define metrics for success and report regularly on engagement outcomes and business impact.
- Lay the groundwork for scaling the business development function, including identifying organizational needs, defining roles, and participating in hiring and onboarding new team members.
- Provide mentorship and leadership to future team members and help create a culture of innovation, accountability, and partnership-building.
Requirements:
- 8 plus years experience in business development, strategic partnerships, or channel development within consumer electronics, AV integration, smart home tech, or adjacent residential industries.
- Strong familiarity with the design build community and an existing network of relevant industry contacts.
- Proven experience scaling business development functions and building high-performing teams.
- Over 50% travel throughout your territory which is: the US and Canada
