Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and commercially focused Manager – Finance to lead financial management, reporting, budgeting, treasury, taxation, credit control, audit, and governance activities.

The selected candidate will play a key role in supporting the organization's transition from an agency model to a joint venture structure. This includes coordinating with the regional head office, implementing new financial controls and procedures, integrating financial systems, and ensuring compliance with group policies and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate directly with the regional head office to implement new financial controls, procedures, and policies under the joint venture structure.
  • Oversee the financial aspects of transitioning from an agency model to a joint venture.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to understand joint venture agreements, revenue-sharing models, and financial reporting requirements.
  • Ensure the smooth integration of financial systems, processes, and internal controls.
  • Lead and guide the finance team through the implementation of new systems and processes.
  • Prepare accurate and timely management accounts by monitoring revenue recognition and expenditure.
  • Coordinate annual budgeting activities and support the preparation of the organization's strategic plan.
  • Facilitate annual audits by coordinating with auditors and providing the required financial records and supporting documents.
  • Manage statutory tax obligations accurately and on time to avoid penalties and support stakeholder returns.
  • Monitor debt collection, customer creditworthiness, credit facilities, and compliance with group credit policies.
  • Maintain effective treasury and fund management systems to improve working capital and finance income.
  • Negotiate competitive rates and facilities with banks and other financial service providers.
  • Monitor debts, liabilities, liquidity, and cash flow requirements.
  • Ensure fixed assets are adequately insured and protected through appropriate controls and procedures.
  • Represent the organization at finance and management forums by providing specialist financial insights.
  • Implement and periodically review group finance policies and company procedures to ensure compliance.
  • Prepare financial reports, forecasts, performance updates, and management presentations.
  • Carry out additional finance-related responsibilities assigned by management.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, develop, and manage the finance team to achieve departmental objectives.
  • Provide regular feedback, coaching, and performance guidance to team members.
  • Identify individual training and development needs and coordinate relevant learning opportunities.
  • Promote a positive, accountable, and proactive working culture.
  • Ensure the team adapts effectively to new financial processes, controls, and systems.

Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree recognized by the UGC, or an equivalent professional qualification.
  • Member or Associate Member of CIMA, CA, ACCA, CPA, or an equivalent internationally recognized accounting body.
  • Minimum 6 years of relevant finance experience, including at least 3 years in a senior finance leadership role.
  • Experience in a multinational, logistics, shipping, aviation, trading, or internationally operated service organization will be preferred.
  • Proven experience in financial management, budgeting, strategic planning, taxation, treasury, corporate governance, and risk management.
  • Strong understanding of IFRS, SLFRS, Sri Lankan tax regulations, company law, and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience working with global principals, international customers, banks, auditors, regulators, and senior stakeholders.
  • Strong knowledge of management reporting, working capital management, credit control, and cash-flow planning.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP, and other accounting or business intelligence platforms.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, presentation, negotiation, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Strong leadership capability with the ability to manage change and implement new financial systems and procedures.
  • High level of integrity, accuracy, confidentiality, and professional judgment.
