QUALITY TECHNICIAN I

Location: North America

Flexco, a leading global manufacturer, is looking for a Quality Technician who has demonstrated success in quality inspections, blueprint reading and process documentation. This role will require previous experience in quality inspections and the completion of at least one quality-related certification or professional development course.

A quality technician at Flexco can expect starting compensation of between $20.00 and $25.00 an hour, or more, depending on skills, education and experience.

All internal Flexco employees must inform their manager before applying for a new role and must be in good standing with Flexco.

Purpose: Performs visual and dimensional product inspections using basic inspection equipment with assistance as necessary to ensure specified requirements are met, assists with managing the gauge calibration system, coordinates, and provides any needed administrative support.

What you will need:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent work experience.
  • Certified Quality Technician (CQT), completed CQT preparation course(s) or completed courses in:
    • Metrology/GD&T course
    • Blueprint reading course
    • Statistical/problem solving course
    • Calibration course
    • Measuring equipment skills
  • Minimum 1 year of inspection experience using basic hand tools (e.g. calipers, micrometers, go/no-go gages, etc.).
  • Certificates in MS Basic software (e.g. MS Word, MS PowerPoint and MS Excel) preferred.
  • Blueprint reading experience, including GD&T knowledge.
  • Experience in Product Lifecyle Management systems (i.e. ARAS) to update information related to inspections, calibrations, non-conformances and audits preferred.
  • Ability to lift part crates/boxes/packages of 25 pounds.
  • Ability to work safely and comply with internal safety protocols.
  • Ability to operate a personal computer and use basic word processing and spreadsheet software to document quality inspections, update and create process documents.
  • Ability to use basic inspection equipment (e.g. calipers, micrometers, go/no-go gages, etc.) to inspect/test products and materials with assistance/instruction as needed.
  • Ability to read and understand basic blueprints (drawings)
  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize assigned work activities to achieve timely and adequate completion.

What you will be doing:

  • Work from procedures, drawings, specifications, and instructions to perform visual, incoming, in-process, or final inspections using basic inspection equipment and more advanced equipment (e.g. Tensile Tester, Coordinate Measuring Machine CMM) with training and supervision.
  • Document and report inspection results.
  • Perform some gauge calibrations with supervision, ensure gauges are calibrated when required, and coordinate outside calibration services.
  • Assist other Quality team members with investigating/troubleshooting vendor, customer, or internal issues.
  • Assist with internal Quality Management System audits and follow up on open quality system issues.
  • Serve as an internal auditor performing required ISO audits and following up on open findings.
  • Assist in creating and updating quality related documents.
  • Support and participate in continuous improvement activities as required.
