Operations Manager Job Family – Operations This family is dedicated to delivering business growth and service excellence across a range of Survitec safety solutions, through the relentless pursuit of improvement to process, systems, data, standardisation of work and continuous improvement practices Job Summary This role leads the implementation of standard work and drives service performance for a significant geographic area, across multiple Survitec sites. It is focused on optimising skills development to meet current and predicted customer need and identify potential opportunities for business growth Duties and responsibilities · Leads delivery of safety services across a significant geographic area, ensuring each is team is focused on meeting quality and safety standards whilst meeting overall customer demand at pace · Ensures every service delivery team has an identified lead, responsible for supporting safety standards and work allocation, on-job competence assessment alongside hands-on service delivery · Manages local stores operations to standard process, ensuring the flow of equipment and supplies supports overall service delivery; ensures effective processes in place to deliver completed work to customer · Produces manpower budget for allocated sites based on current and predicted customer demand; manages to budget, utilising a range of staffing arrangements including annualised hours, controlled use of overtime and recommending appropriate increase in permanent headcount as needed · Engages sub-contractors to provide flexible additional resource to meet customer demand, ensuring working practices and outputs meet Survitec standards · Implements and drives standard process, actively seeking opportunities to drive controlled continuous improvement. Works with wider Operations teams to ensure best practice and process improvements are coordinated and communicated across the service footprint. Ensures every colleague is focused on appropriate success measures · Communicates the actions needed to implement the plan for optimising operations, explaining its relationship to the broader Survitec mission, vision and values; motivates people to commit to these actions and to doing extraordinary things to achieve functional and programme business goals · Works with business improvement colleagues to implement standard toolkit to identify process variance, determine root cause and appropriate corrective actions, ensuring learning is shared across their own area and the wider operations community · Ensures every service technician has a defined development path, building training time into the manpower forecast (on-job and face to face as needed) · Carries out timely audit activity, reviews progress and provides actionable feedback to site operations teams to support process improvement · Works with Sales and Commercial colleagues to provide expert operational input towards bids and tenders; provides operational performance feedback to sales and commercial teams to support customer review process · Ensures effective employee engagement, performance review and positive application of people policies and activities · Carries out periodic review of customer demand patterns against overall geographic footprint, making recommendations for change as needed to manpower levels, skills mix and training · Maintains external accreditations and in-depth understanding of current and emerging best practices through continuing professional development, attending training or conferences and reading specialist media · Participates in the development of overall service operations strategy, providing appropriate challenge to test the viability of strategy and contributing creative ideas and insights to support the strategy formation process · Creates an environment where everyone in the team can live the Survitec Values · Creates an environment where our people feel valued, appreciated and free to be who they are at work · Understands, upholds and contributes to creating a safety-first culture within Survitec. Experience and qualification Educated to University Degree (or vocational equivalent) 6 – 10 years of job-related experience to fully competent level 3 – 6 years of managerial experience of planning and managing resources to deliver business objectives
