Description
The Tax Accountant & Compliance Specialist is responsible for managing the organization’s end‑to‑end tax operations and regulatory compliance requirements. This role ensures accurate tax reporting, adherence to statutory obligations, effective tax planning, and strong support during audits and assessments. The position also contributes to month‑end close activities, financial analysis, and the continuous improvement of tax and compliance workflows.
Responsibilities
Tax Accounting and Reporting- Tax Preparation: Prepare and file tax returns for the organization, ensuring compliance with all applicable tax laws and regulations.
- Tax Planning: Develop and implement tax planning strategies to minimize the organization’s tax liability.
- Research: Stay current with changes in tax laws and regulations and assess their impact on the organization.
- Audit Support: Assist with tax audits and inquiries from tax authorities, preparing necessary documentation and responses.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed records of all tax-related transactions and filings.
- Financial Statements: Work closely with the team to ensure tax-related entries are accurately reflected in the financial statements.
- Month-End Close and Consolidation Reporting: Assist and prepare month-end close process and consolidation reporting, including account reconciliations, accruals, and journal entries.
- Tax Forecasting: Prepare tax forecasts and projections to support budgeting and financial planning processes.
- Training: Provide training and guidance to junior staff and relevant colleagues on tax related matters.
- BIR Compliance Management: Manage BIR compliance requirements and ensure timely submission of statutory filings.
- Tax Audit and Assessment Handling: Handle tax audits, assessments, and inquiries, including preparation of documentation and responses.
- Tax Refund Handling: Manage tax refund applications and ensure accurate and timely processing.
- Government Statutory Contributions: Oversee government statutory contributions, ensuring adherence to regulatory guidelines.
- Regulatory Monitoring and Advisory: Provide tax-related advice to management and other departments on various transactions and business decisions.
- Process Improvement: Develop standard operating procedures for tax and compliance workflows.
- Export Oriented Enterprise Registration: Spearhead the registration and compliance requirements for Export Oriented Enterprise Registration.
Requirements
- Must be a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) – required
- Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in Philippine tax and regulatory compliance
- Strong experience handling BIR audits and tax assessments
- Extensive knowledge in NIRC, Revenue regulations and BIR issuances, SEC reportorial requirements, SSS, PhilHealth and PAG-IBIG regulations
- Experience in working in shared services, outsourcing or a multi-entity environment is an advantage
- Strong analytical, documentation and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple regulatory deadlines.
