Description
VisitScotland is Scotland’s National Tourism Organisation, and we’re proud to promote the wealth of incredible features our country has to offer. Our aim is to benefit Scotland by growing its tourism industry and giving it a renowned presence in the global marketplace.
The Data and Insight team at VisitScotland is a strategic enabler, turning data into decisions that drive value across Scotland’s visitor economy. It is made up of four interconnected teams, Data Products & Platforms (DPP), Visitor, Market & Experience Insight (VMX), Strategic Measurement & Policy Insight (SMPI), and Insight Activation & Partnerships (IAP), the team delivers trusted data products, foresight, research, and compelling narratives that shape organisational strategy.
Data Products & Platforms (DPP) builds and runs the data insight products and platforms that power decision making across VisitScotland, most notably the Data Insight Product backlog, and CRM data platform, and provides the engineering, science and governance foundations that other pillars (Strategic Measurement & Policy Insight, Visitor, Market & Experience Insight, Insight Activation & Partnerships) depend on. The team provides the technical, infrastructure and data backbone of VS’s data insight products, and insight ecosystem, and ensures Data Insight Products & Platforms such as National Visitor Intelligence Platform, Barometer, and CRM are robust, scalable, and trusted.
This role provides the capacity to deliver and maintain VisitScotland’s core data insight products, while ensuring evidence is clean, integrated, and adoption-ready. They bridge analytics, campaign evaluation, dashboard development, and integration of procured, open, and research datasets. By combining technical skills with applied insight, these roles prevent evidence being siloed and ensure outputs are productised for decision-making across policy, research, UX, and partner stakeholders.
This role ensures evidence flows seamlessly into Insight Data Products, turning data into adoption-ready insights that drive Spread, Spend, Sustainability, and Satisfaction.
The role will be ingesting, cleaning, and validating datasets from multiple sources (procured, open, survey, UX). Building and maintaining dashboards for Insight Data Products, aligned to best-in-class BI design standards. Integrating Insight Data Products data to produce actionable segments, propensity models, and journey analyses. Designing and running test-and-learn frameworks (A/B, holdout, uplift) and publishing outcome read-outs. Translating models and forecasts into plain-English visuals and insights for adoption. Upholding QA, version control, and documentation across dashboards and CRM datasets. Collaborating with Visitor, Market & Experience Insight, Strategic Measurement & Policy Insight, and Insight Activation & Partnerships to ensure evidence flows into dashboards, toolkits, and decision previews.
