The Procurement and Supply Chain Management function is responsible for the interface with those third-party organisations who support our business whether that be for procurement of goods and services or the relationship management that underpins any such activities. They support project delivery teams across the sectors to ensure the strategic direction is identified and delivered.

The P&SC Manager – Due Diligence and Assurance will lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of procurement and supply chain due diligence, assurance and risk management processes. The role is responsible for managing the internal and external audit interface for procurement, maintaining robust governance arrangements, and driving proactive risk identification and mitigation across the supply chain. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring that procurement and supply chain activities meet the highest standards of integrity, compliance and resilience.
- Support the design, and implement and manage supply chain due diligence and assurance processes to ensure compliance with organisational, legal and ethical standards
- Maintain and enhance supplier pre-qualification, verification, and audit frameworks to assess and monitor supplier integrity, capability and compliance.
- Collaborate with procurement teams and business units to ensure due diligence processes are embedded throughout the supplier lifecycle
- Monitor and report on supply chain assurance outcomes, providing recommendations for improvement and corrective actions.
- Act as primary contact for all internal and external audits relating to procurement and supply chain activities
- Co-ordinate audit preparation, fieldwork, responses and close out actions in partnership with functional leads and Costain divisions.
- Develop and maintain documentation and evidence packs to support compliance and audit readiness
- Recommend improvements to internal controls and risk mitigation based on audit findings and regulatory best practice
- Own and manage the supply chain risk management framework, including identification, assessment, monitoring and escalation of risks
- Maintain up to date risk register and provide regular reporting to senior leadership on emerging supply chain risks and mitigation activities
- Work cross functionally to develop and embed business continuity, resilience and crisis management plans for key suppliers and categories.
- Engage with internal stakeholders including legal, compliance, sustainability, and operational teams to align due diligence with wider corporate standards.
Essential
- A Level/BTEC Education in supply chain management, procurement, business or related filed (or equivalent experience)
- Significant previous experience of working in a procurement and supply chain or supply chain risk role.
- Proven experience managing supply chain assurance, due diligence and/or audit programmes in complex regulated environment
- Strong understanding of governance frameworks, audit principles, and compliance standards relevant to procurement
- Demonstrated experience in supply chain risk management, including risk assessment methodologies and performance tracking
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to develop actional insights
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence decisions across functional and organisational boundaries
- High attention to detail and methodical approach to process design, evidence management and reporting.
Desirable
- Knowledge of Infrastructure Industry Procurement and Supply Chain Operations
- Experience of working within a matrix organisation, with abilities to influence at all levels.
- Experience in developing Functional KPI’s to support objectives and drive continuous improvement
- Understanding procurement processes, including sourcing, contracting, and supplier management
- Knowledge of sustainability, modern slavery and ethical sourcing obligations
- Working knowledge of ISO20400, ISO9001 and related assurance standards
- Understanding of GDPR
- Formal audit, assurance or risk management certification
- Membership to a Procurement (e.g., CPSM, CIPS) related Professional body
