Herbert & Weiss, LLP is seeking an experienced Chief Legal Officer (CLO) to join our team. In this role, the CLO will guide and oversee the legal affairs of our firm while ensuring that matters of legal significance to the company are promptly identified and addressed. The CLO will report directly to the CEO and serve as a member of the senior leadership team, driving the strategic alignment of legal initiatives as related to company goals.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and lead the company's legal strategy to promote and protect the company's matters.
• Oversee the delivery of legal services and resources to accomplish corporate goals, strategies, and priorities.
• Interpret laws, rulings, and regulations for the corporation. Provide advice and counsel to management on legal matters and potential impact of laws and regulations on operations.
• Preserve and protect the company's rights and interests in contract negotiations, settlements and litigation.
• Direct, coordinate, and oversee work activities of outside counsel, while minimizing and managing expenses.

Qualifications:

• J.D. degree from an accredited law school and membership in the state bar is required.
• A minimum of 10 years’ experience in a law firm as a managing partner or senior lawyer, or as a legal counsel in a corporate environment.
• Experience in identifying and navigating legal issues in business settings, and in leading a broad range of corporate legal matters.
• Excellent leadership and management skills, with proven capability to mentor, inspire and guide a team of legal professionals.
