Description

Reporting to the Head of Airfield - The Airfield Civils Delivery Manager will be responsible for ensuring the ongoing serviceability, availability, and maintenance of the diverse airfield civil, structural and habitat asset base through effective modern monitoring and maintenance service delivery.

Responsible for planning and training the Airfield winter snow clearing teams and act in the role of one of the appointed Airfield winter snow managers in line with agreed on call arrangements.

The Airfield Civils Delivery Manager shall lead the Airfield, Specialist Operative maintenance shift team, with 4 team leads reporting directly, working across a 24/7 shift arrangement.

Coordinate with electrical, planning, and operational stakeholders to deliver safe, efficient, and compliant planned and reactive works.

Oversee documentation, ARAs, JRAs, SWPs, and Permit-to-Work approvals to ensure operational readiness and compliance.

This role ensures the safety, serviceability, and regulatory compliance of all airfield civil and habitat assets in line with EASA, ICAO, and internal standards. It oversees inspections, condition assessments, and asset health monitoring to inform operational decisions and support both Opex and Capex planning. A strong focus is placed on maintaining accurate asset records, compliance evidence, and clear monthly reporting through effective use of CMMS.

The position provides safety leadership by promoting a robust safety culture, ensuring adherence to legislation, RAMS, and operational procedures, and leading investigations and corrective actions. It manages and develops Airfield Operative Teams, setting performance standards, conducting reviews, and building capability within a 24/7 shift environment.

Operational responsibilities include coordinating planned and reactive work with key stakeholders, overseeing documentation and permit approvals, and maintaining strong contractor relationships. The role manages framework and term contracts, ensuring mobilisation readiness, quality delivery, and performance reviews.

Financial duties include managing the Opex budget, cost control, forecasting, and contractor valuation processes. The role also leads winter operations as Snow Manager and supports emergency responses. Additional responsibilities include producing operational reports, stakeholder engagement, and driving innovation and continuous improvement across maintenance and asset management practices.

Experience

  • +4 years’ experience working as a fully qualified Civil Engineer.
  • Ideally have 2 or more years’ experience acting in a Supervisor/Manager/PM capacity in their trade
  • Experience of working in a highly regulated and/or safety critical working environment.
  • Have competent IT skills for the efficient operation of computerised maintenance-based recording systems and Microsoft office applications and similar IT systems and software.

Education & Qualifications

  • Hold a 3rd level Degree/ Higher level Diploma ideally in Civil Engineering, Facilities Management or similar.
  • Full clean driver’s license.
  • Project Management qualifications desirable but not mandatory.
