Description
Summary/Objective: Provides subject matter expertise to the Air Force Global Strike Command (AFGSC) Rapid Capabilities Division (RCD) on global strike mission areas with a focus on Weapon systems operational security, including protection of critical capabilities and mitigation of emerging threats (e.g., UAS/C-UAS, cyber, physical, and information risks).
Advises AFGSC leadership on identifying and analyzing mission gaps across operations, sustainment, training, logistics, modernization, and security, and recommends emerging technology solutions to address those gaps. Serves as a key liaison between AFGSC stakeholders and RCD commercial engagement entities, supporting technology scouting, rapid prototyping, experimentation, and testing. Contributes to the development of acquisition and transition strategies that enable rapid fielding, production, and long-term sustainment of capabilities in support of the Air Force Nuclear Enterprise and Combatant Command requirements.
Essential Functions:
Needs and Requirements Identification
- Collaborate with AFGSC stakeholders (HQ, 8 AF, 20 AF, Wing Innovation Cells) to identify capability gaps across operations, sustainment, training, modernization, logistics, and security.
- Conduct problem curation to refine requirements and determine root causes.
Solution Exploration and Development
- Evaluate commercial technologies (Budget Activities 6.1–6.5) and recommend solutions to address AFGSC mission gaps, with a focus on Global Strike weapon systems.
- Partner with DoD, DoE (National Labs), AFRL/AFWERX, PEOs, DIU, DARPA, academia, and industry to prototype, field, and scale emerging technologies.
- Coordinate with SBCC IPT Leads, Project Managers, and cross-functional teams to align solutions with operational requirements.
- Guide technology scouting, vendor down-selection, and integration with SBIR/STTR and DoD acquisition processes.
- Support showcase events and represent RCD at industry engagements to identify innovative solutions.
Funding and Requirements Definition
- Assist in developing validated requirements and funding strategies (POM/PPBE).
- Coordinate with Program Element Monitors (PEMs) and Offices of Primary Responsibility (OPRs) to support approved initiatives.
Program and Contract Management
- Support execution of RCD programs in coordination with System Program Offices, labs, and FFRDCs.
- Assist in managing projects through lifecycle phases: problem definition, assessment, acquisition, execution, fielding, and transition to program of record.
- Support program reviews (PMRs), stakeholder coordination, and development of transition strategies.
- Maintain data accuracy and reporting across systems (e.g., Asana, SharePoint, IPODS).
Rapid Acquisition and Integration
- Support development of streamlined processes to accelerate acquisition and integration of solutions addressing AFGSC strategic capability gaps.
- Promote rapid fielding approaches aligned with Global Strike readiness and modernization priorities.
Prototyping & Experimentation
- Support planning and execution of prototypes, demonstrations, and testing in exercises and DoD initiatives.
- Translate mission gap analysis into rapid prototyping and fielding efforts for weapon system capabilities.
- Assist in development of force development concepts and coordination of external partnerships, funding, and support.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- 10+ years in security operations
- Technical expertise in UAS and C-UAS operations
- Experience managing cross-functional project teams.
- Demonstrated experience organizing high-impact technology demonstration events.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills
- Strong communication, leadership, interpersonal, and administrative skills
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with Senior Military Leaders, staff personnel, and contractors
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with DoD acquisition programs and SBIR/STTR ecosystem.
- Advanced Degree: Science, Business, Arts (Military Strategy), Project Management, or other related field
- Prior experience working on/with HQ Staff; 4+ years related work experience
- Knowledge / Understanding of JCIDS/DoW acquisition and PPBE processes
- Knowledge / Experience with business and/or marketing practices
- Knowledge / Experience with developing government contract proposals
- Familiarity with contracts, legal, and financial management

- N/A
Work Environment: Ideal candidate lives near or is willing to relocate to the vicinity of Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana to support periodic on-site requirements, as on-site work is preferred. Hybrid opportunities will be considered.
Physical Demands: Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Travel Required: Varies. Hybrid / remote personnel are expected to visit and meet at customer site as required to execute responsibilities. Additional travel may be required for the successful execution of projects/programs/portfolios.
