Summary:

The Communications Intern is responsible for supporting various communications initiatives at the assigned sites and providing HR related messaging and administrative support.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Creates content and improves presence on social media channels, (e.g. the intranet, LinkedIn, Instagram) to enhance recruiting, retention and engagement efforts.
• Writes, edits, and formats content for internal newsletters, executive announcements, and company-wide communications.
• Collaborates with leadership and HR to craft consistent messaging that reflects company values and culture.
• Supports the development of communication plans for employee programs, campaigns, and events.
• Assist in designing visual materials (e.g. presentations, flyers, internal communication documents, dynamic job postings, career path documents) using tools like Canva or Adobe Suite.
• Helps track recruiting and engagement metrics and generate reports on communication effectiveness.
• Completes job aids, Work Instructions, and other paperwork according to established company policy.
• Maintains confidentiality of customer information, product information, and other sensitive and confidential information.
• Exhibits regular and predictable attendance and works overtime as needed due to workplace demands. Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Pursuing or recently completed a 4 year degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field.
• Experience with social media platforms and digital publishing tools as well as Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud and similar platforms.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Knowledge of: social media platforms, marketing strategies and techniques.
• Skill in: creating and developing creative content online.
• Ability to: read, comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions including Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions; wear required PPE as needed (e.g. safety shoes, hair net, lab coat, gloves, protective eyewear); work as part of a team; develop and maintain good working relationships; manage time effectively; maintain a positive attitude; work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

• Must be able to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds manually.
• A climate-controlled office environment; the noise level is usually moderately quiet, however the induvial must be able to spend time on the production floor where the noise level is moderately loud.
• Must be able to sit for long periods of time in front of a computer, stand, walk, use hands to handle and feel, reach with hands or arms, stoop, crouch, talk, hear, push and pull
• Exposure to frequent movement of motorized equipment throughout the facility, including electric pallet jacks, forklifts, etc.
