About the Organization: Compass Family Services is a 100+ year old nonprofit working on the front lines of San Francisco’s homeless crisis. We provide families experiencing or at risk of homelessness with comprehensive support to address immediate needs and ensure long-term success.

About the team: Compass SF HOME empowers homeless San Francisco families to find safe, stable, affordable housing. Families receive assistance with housing search and move-in, rental subsidies, and case management designed to set families up for long term housing stability.

Schedule: Monday - Friday, primarily during standard business hours

Compensation: $38.46 per hour, equivalent to 75k annually

Location: 37 Grove Street, San Francisco. Fully in-person to start, with possibility of switching to a hybrid schedule after first three months

Responsibilities:
The Subsidy Compliance Analyst supports Compass SF HOME Programs with issuing timely and accurate monthly rental subsidy payments to clients. This position conducts regular audits and works closely with the finance department to ensure subsidies are billed to the correct contract.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Pull monthly subsidy reports for seven Compass subsidy programs. Format and submit these reports to the Compass finance department for payment.
  • Work with Case Managers, Housing Locators, and Directors to correct data and enrollment errors in a timely fashion.
  • Complete monthly reconciliation between Compass internal databases and external city systems.
  • Work closely with the Compass finance department to coordinate timely payment and resolve issues.
  • Conduct regular data audits to ensure clients are enrolled in the correct program and subsidies are paid from the correct contract.
  • Manage data entry for client enrollment.
  • Engage with funders and city partners to resolve data and compliance challenges.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

    Qualifications:

    • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel
    • 2+ years experience with non-profit accounting, financial analysis, or similar
    • 2+ years experience with non-profit audits, compliance work, or similar
    • Degree in finance, business, accounting, or similar
    • Outstanding work habits: punctuality, communication, reliability, cooperation, organization, professionalism. Ability to work independently and to juggle many responsibilities concurrently.
    • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging work.
    • Strong computer skills. Salesforce experience a plus.
    • Preferred: Experience working in social service organizations serving low-income households

    Compensation and Benefits:

    • Salary range: $38.46 per hour, 37.5 hours per week (equivalent to $75,000 annually)
    • Paid time off: 4 weeks of vacation your first year, increasing to 5 in your second. Also paid holidays, sick time, family leave.
    • Insurance: health, dental and vision insurance are fully covered by Compass for employees and dependent children. We also provide long term disability and life insurance.
    • Retirement: after one year of work, Compass contributes an amount equal to 5% of your salary into a retirement account; this vests during years 2-6.
    • Membership in OPEIU/Local 29 union.
