I. MAJOR FUNCTIONS

The Project Manager – Special Projects (PM-SP) leads multiple special projects with a primary focus on grant funded and other one-time and/or short-term projects. The individual will oversee and coordinate all aspects of these various projects. The individual will track all activities and deliverables, develop and maintain internal partnerships and serve as a liaison among project stakeholders to identify, articulate and facilitate changes to address a business opportunity or provide solutions in support of new business ideas and revenue trends. The PM-SP will analyze operational workflows, define business requirements, and track project implementation through testing, documentation and completion. This position will be a critical thinker; works collaboratively across NASW divisions and chapters to advance initiatives and knowledge exchange that enhances and adds value for NASW members.

II. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Manages special projects and other related tasks as identified by the COO. Leads cross-functional and cross-departmental efforts that span the Association, focusing on required deliverables.
  2. In conjunction with the COO and business stakeholders, this position determines opportunities to maximize the Association’s return on investment and to increase operational efficiency and technology effectiveness. May help develop the business case for projects, including financial and cost-benefit analyses.
  3. Identifies relevant stakeholders and assists stakeholders with development of business requirements, helping shape the project scope. Ensures that business requirements are met in the project design and ensures that stakeholders understand project scope.
  4. Plans projects to accomplish goals while balancing the constraints of time, cost, and quality standards; develops plans that delineate activities, durations, and dependencies.
  5. Organizes and facilitates inter-departmental/key stakeholder meetings to identify, plan and implement joint projects’ purposes, scopes, business requirements, testing, deadlines, etc.
  6. Maintains project documentation and communicates project status to stakeholders on an on-going basis.
  7. Assists in the evaluation of vendors and their proposed solutions, working with business owners as required.
  8. Assists process owners with establishing relevant quality control measures.
  9. Monitors effectiveness of implemented initiatives to ensure quality standards and metrics are met.
  10. Perform additional duties and responsibilities as needed.

III. ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  1. Requires a bachelor’s degree; master’s degree preferred.
  2. Certification in project management, strongly preferred, business analysis certification a plus.
  3. Requires 3-5 years of experience in project management. Experience in an Association or non-profit or similar setting is preferred.
  4. Requires strong organizational and project management skills, including the ability to design, implement, and direct multiple projects, setting deadlines and ensuring timely execution and accountability. Must be able to engage and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  5. Experience in using performance metrics to measure results and to monitor program effectiveness is highly desired.
  6. Requires exceptional written and oral communications skills, including the ability to communicate effectively at the executive level and with diverse constituencies.
  7. Must be a skilled influencer and facilitator, able to resolve conflict effectively and able to move an organization forward through collaboration. Must be flexible with different types of personalities and skilled in adjusting to varied audiences and situations.
  8. Must have excellent problem-solving skills, with the business judgment required for complex situations or subject matter and sensitive communications. Must take ownership for issues and follow through to resolution.
  9. Must have excellent documentation skills, able to synthesize and organize voluminous detail and information, resulting in effective recommendations and solutions.
  10. Must have strong technical skills with strong competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Familiarity with Microsoft Project or similar project management tools required.

  6. Perceptive: This individual is creative and intuitively recognizes opportunities and takes appropriate action.

This position is 3 days in office, 2 days remote.
