JOB SUMMARY

Program Accounting provides accounting and accounts payable support for the scholarship programs of Step Up For Students. This position is responsible for integral functions required for the distribution of scholarship funds for multiple scholarship programs.  

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist with the issuance of scholarship distributions.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts associated with scholarship funding and payments for multiple scholarship programs.
• Provide customer support by researching outstanding accounts payable and communicating this information timely to Customer Relations and schools.
• Assist with month end duties including bank reconciliations and other reconciliations as requested.
• Assist with Agreed Upon Procedure CPA Report reviews
• Provide banking support and follow-up for returned ACH’s.
• Assist with annual audit requests and ad hoc reporting as needed.
• Maintain accounting policies in accordance with GAAP.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

REQUIRED:

• An associate degree in accounting and 3 – 5 years of accounting experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Demonstrated success and a proven track record of professional/life experience in specific job functions, projects, industries or military service can substitute for professional experience and/or formal education requirements.

PREFERRED:

• Non-profit accounting experience is a plus.

KEY COMPETENCIES

• Accounting software experience related to accounts payable and expense management functions subsystems. Knowledge of Epicor ERP or similar system a plus.
• Experience with general ledger, preparation of general ledger and bank account reconciliations and
• Knowledge of accounts payable and accounts receivable subsystem, processes, and transaction processing operations.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills required.
• Strong attention to details, concise written and oral communication skills necessary; must be able to meet deadlines and work independently as well as part of a team.

• Work is performed indoors in a typical office environment - not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
• Valid driver license with proof of insurance.
