We’re looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Network Inspector to join our Taupō-based team. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you’ll play a key role in ensuring our road network is safe, compliant, and performing at its best.

Te kōwhiringa | The Opportunity
As a Network Inspector, you’ll be responsible for delivering an effective network inspection programme across the transport network. You’ll identify defects, recommend treatment solutions, and ensure all work aligns with contract requirements and performance targets.
You’ll work closely with operational teams, supporting planning and execution of maintenance works, while ensuring quality, safety, and efficiency are always top of mind.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular inspections of carriageway and corridor assets
- Identify, prioritise, and monitor defects across the network
- Recommend repair solutions and timeframes
- Record and manage defects using AWM Contractor Software
- Liaise with internal teams to plan and complete maintenance works
- Monitor performance and ensure contract compliance
- Identify risks and implement corrective actions
- Undertake night inspections on higher classification roads
- Support emergency response during extreme weather events
- Maintain accurate asset data in line with NZTA standards

You’ll bring a combination of technical knowledge, strong planning skills, and a proactive mindset. You’re comfortable working independently in the field and confident collaborating with teams to deliver results.
- Proven experience in network inspection, fault identification, or roading/civil maintenance
- Strong problem-solving ability and commitment to continuous improvement
- Organised and methodical approach to work
- Confidence using digital tools, including tablets and asset management systems (AWM preferred)
- Excellent communication and coordination skills
- A positive, safety-focused attitude
