Kira Systems is a powerful machine learning software that identifies, extracts, and analyzes text in your contracts and other documents. Our software is intuitive and easy-to-use to uncover relevant information for some of the largest law firms, professional services and corporate companies in the world.

We are hiring a Software Development Lead to lead a group of high performing developers. This position reports to the VP of Technology. Successful candidates not only are excellent senior software developers in their own right, but understand people and organizations, have a track record of mentoring and motivating others, and have helped senior management make the right decisions. At this stage of Kira’s growth, the person who fills the Dev Lead position can have a huge influence on our direction and success.

Here is what we hope you will bring:

• honed ability to communicate complex ideas
• industry experience as an accomplished developer in a decision-making position
• understanding of SQL and relational databases
• demonstrated experience mastering programming languages, including tools and ecosystems. Bonus if you already know Clojure or Go
• understanding of security by design and basics of web application security
• technology agnostic and pragmatic engineering approach focused on problem solving
• desire to use your hard-earned skills as well as teach them
• We expect that you will have 8 or more years combined development and leadership experience. Though if you have gained the skills for what we need in less time, we are still interested!

In this position you will:

• have a team of developers report to you, coach and guide them to success
• lead the development team on improving product performance, stability and robustness
• architect major software projects and changes
• collaborate with other development leads to align the team towards the common goals
• iterate on improving the agile development process in cross-functional teams
