This position is limited for 6 months until February 2027 and can be filled in part- or full-time (20-40 hours per week).
We’re flexible! We’re happy to receive applications in English or German.
We are the Middle Office team at the European Energy Exchange, ensuring that trading runs smoothly and securely behind the scenes. We support our front office by developing tools and mathematical models, integrating new products into our trading systems, and collaborating closely with our sales department to introduce schemes that attract more liquidity to our order books. While we don’t interact directly with customers, we work hand-in-hand with all key teams within EEX.
Your tasks:
As an Intern (f/m/d) in our Middle Office team, you will support us in our daily operations, data analysis, preparation of market animation schemes, and coordination between teams. You’ll be involved in meetings and gain valuable insights into how trading works behind the scenes. You don’t need to know everything from the start—we’ll guide you and value your fresh perspective. This is a great opportunity to learn about financial markets and gain hands-on experience in a dynamic environment. We believe in the exchange of ideas, supporting one another, and encouraging growth. We call it: the exchange mindset.
You bring along:
- Ongoing or lately finished studies in mathematics, business informatics, economics, data science, business management, or administration at a university or university of applied sciences (FH) in Germany
- Availability to work as an intern between August 2026 until the end of Februrary 2027 in part- or full-time (20-40 hours per week possible)
- Availability to work on site in our office in Leipzig regularly (partly remote woork possible)
- Confident use of commonly used programming languages such as MATLAB, Python, R, VBA, and the MS Office suite (especially Excel)
- Willingness to work regularly on-site in our office (remote work possible in alignment with the team lead)
- Initiative, reliability, and a collaborative mindset
- A hands-on mentality and attention to detail
- Good written and spoken communication skills in both English and German
Why join us?
- An attractive hourly wage
- A good work-life balance thanks to flexible working hours
- Flexible mobile working arrangements
- A place in a dynamic and international team within the EEX Group and Group Deutsche Börse
- A perspective in the constantly growing and developing energy industry

This is evident across the board, be it through our diverse workforce, routine responsibilities or other areas of activities and scope of application. We are looking for employees who enjoy working in a dynamic and flexible environment and are willing to put forward innovative ideas for the company. We offer our employees an attractive remuneration package. Benefits include a high level of trust and autonomy in modern, centrally located workplaces where corporate culture and values are exercised regularly.
We value diversity and therefore welcome all applications - regardless of gender, nationality, ethnic and social origin, religion/belief, disability, age, sexual orientation and identity.
