Founding Software Engineer — San Francisco, CA (In office - WFH Flex)

About us

Our partner is a seed-funded startup ($7M) building agentic AI systems that reason over large sets of unstructured data and ship real value to engineers. You’ll work directly with the CEO/CTO and get fast user feedback as you build.

The role

Invent and build core product and systems from the ground up. Ship full-stack features end to end, make agents not just smart but trusted and usable, and help set engineering culture from day one. In person in SF three days per week.

What you’ll do

Design and implement production agent workflows for unstructured data; own data ingestion, evaluation loops, and UX around agents.

Build full-stack features across a React front end and Python services; iterate quickly with direct customer input.
Establish reliability and performance baselines; instrument, observe, and improve the system as usage grows.
Collaborate tightly with founders on product direction; create lightweight standards that scale the team.

You might be a fit if you have

3+ years of software experience and a product mindset; you thrive in ambiguity and love shipping.
Expertise with React and Python; comfort moving up and down the stack.
Solid engineering fundamentals: testing, observability, performance, data modeling.
Work authorization in the US and availability to be in SF 3 days/week.

Nice to have

Hands-on with LLMs/agents (prompting, tools, retrieval), vector search, and safety/guardrails.
Experience turning messy data into reliable product features.

Location and setup

San Francisco, hybrid-in-office (3 days/week).
