Description

Reporting directly to the Trade Compliance Manager within the Inventory Planning and Purchasing department, the Trade Compliance Specialist is responsible for collaborating with internal stakeholders and external partners to manage import and export compliance processes. Duties include ensuring adherence to global customs regulations and partnering agency requirements, supporting inbound and outbound shipment movement, and leading process improvements to strengthen overall trade compliance.

Responsibilities:

  • Support classification of products under the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) and Export Control Classification Number (ECCN) for North America.
  • Perform and enhance U.S. export compliance activities, including denied party screening and license determination.
  • Manage U.S. import and export compliance functions such as HTS determinations, valuation issues (e.g., assists), antidumping/countervailing duties (AD/CVD), Section 232 tariffs, and Lacey Act compliance.
  • Support the preparation and submission of import and export documentation, including Electronic Export Information (EEI) filings.
  • Generate and analyze reports for internal departments and service providers to support Reconciliation and Duty Drawback programs.
  • Partner with service providers, including customs brokers and freight forwarders, to resolve compliance issues and facilitate shipments.
  • Review and interpret product specifications, Bills of Materials, and technical records for trade compliance requirements.
  • Assist with country-of-origin determinations for import declarations and product marking requirements.
  • Identify and evaluate free trade agreement opportunities while ensuring adherence to preferential treatment qualifications.
  • Review trade data and reports to oversee post-entry and post-export audits, ensuring timely implementation of corrective actions as required.
  • Develop training materials and deliver workshops to educate staff and stakeholders on trade compliance requirements.
  • Create and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for U.S. import and export compliance processes.
  • Perform additional trade compliance projects and duties as assigned.
  • Works effectively with others in a team environment to accomplish organizational goals and to identify and resolve problems.

  • Must demonstrate commitment, dependability, punctuality, and adherence to agreed-upon schedule. While being present in the workplace to effectively collaborate and communicate amongst co-workers and teams.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field; or 1–3 years of relevant work experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Experience with SAP or Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) is a plus, but not required
  • Strong passion for continuous improvement, self-motivated, and eager to learn
  • Skilled in managing large data sets, analyzing trends, and identifying risks
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities
  • Able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Collaborative team player with the ability to work independently when needed
  • Strong communication skills across all channels, including email, chat, and phone
  • Flexible availability, including weekends, early mornings, and late evenings

Compensation: $60,000
