Description

Aspect Capital is an award-winning systematic hedge fund based in London that manages over $8 billon of client assets, where technology plays a critical role in the success of our business.
We are looking for a Junior Linux Administrator to join our infrastructure team and help support, maintain, and improve our Linux‑based platforms. This role is well suited to someone early in their career who has a solid grounding in Linux systems administration and is keen to develop their skills in a modern, highly automated enterprise environment.
The team supports a broad range of technologies, including on-premises infrastructure, cloud services, CI/CD tooling, and integration with Microsoft platforms. Much of our work focuses on improving reliability, security, and automation across the estate while supporting the firm’s strategic goals.
What you’ll be doing
  • Supporting and administering Linux systems (Ubuntu and RHEL)
  • Assisting with the build, configuration, and maintenance of Linux hosts and services
  • Working with configuration management and infrastructure‑as‑code tooling
  • Helping to support cloud‑based services and automation workflows
  • Troubleshooting system, performance, and availability issues
  • Contributing to documentation and operational best practices
Your experience
Essential:
  • 1-3 years relevant experience
  • A good understanding of Linux systems administration (Ubuntu and/or RHEL)
  • Familiarity with core Linux concepts: services, filesystems, networking, permissions, logging
  • Some experience with automation or configuration management tools (e.g. Puppet)
  • Some scripting experience (e.g. Python, Bash, or PowerShell)
  • An interest in infrastructure automation and cloud technologies
Desirable (but not required):
  • Exposure to Terraform or other infrastructure‑as‑code tools
  • Awareness of AWS services and basic cloud architecture
  • Experience working in an enterprise or mixed‑platform environment
  • Basic understanding of networking and storage concepts
  • Familiarity with Active Directory–integrated Linux systems
Nice to haves:
Experience with tools such as Artifactory, TeamCity, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes/EKS, Git (e.g. Bitbucket), Grafana or similar monitoring tools would be beneficial, but is not essential.
If this sounds like a role you’d be interested in, we would love to hear from you.
No agencies, please.
