Description

Transverse role with growth opportunities for an ambitious Thermal Engineer in our Systems Engineering team in Munich, Germany. The role combines Thermal Systems Architecture responsibilities, as well as driving active thermal cooling technologies development to capture new businesses.
Your role will include:
  • Lead thermal architecture on system and subsystem level for versatile multi-orbit spacecraft, starting from system proposals and pre-development phases to detailed definition, to qualification and flight data analysis
  • Implement and analyse associated 2D and 3D thermal models (e.g. ESATAN, Systema, Thermal desktop or other standard tools)
  • Coordinate with other disciplines and bring a systems vision
  • Contribute to MBSE models and ways of working
  • Derive and manage thermal requirements
  • Support integration and verification activities (TVAC, others) on subsystem and system level
  • Identify gaps in thermal components portfolio to enter new markets for active thermal control subsystems and lead maturation of TRL & MRL where necessary
  • Support with other relevant ad-hoc activities.
  • 2+ years in spacecraft thermal engineering or architecture
  • Strong understanding of underlying physical principles for thermal engineering
  • Analysis tools and TVAC testing knowledge
  • Basic knowledge of Systems Engineering practices including Requirements Engineering; ECSS
  • Passion for creating a new spaceflight paradigm (space logistics & orbital refuelling)
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Accountable with an agile mindset
  • Nice to have:
  • Business acumen and knowledge of thermal components and subsystems market
  • Experience with shaping technology roadmaps and their implementation
