Position: Standby Man

Overview:
A Standby Man plays a vital safety role during confined space work. Positioned just outside the entry point, the Standby Man ensures the continuous safety of personnel inside the confined space by monitoring working conditions, maintaining constant communication, and initiating emergency procedures if necessary.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

• Remain stationed outside the confined space at all times while work is in progress.

• Maintain continuous visual and/or verbal contact with workers inside.

• Monitor environmental conditions to detect any hazards (e.g., gas, temperature, oxygen level).

• Immediately initiate emergency response procedures if required.

• Ensure all entry permits and safety procedures are strictly followed.

• Maintain communication with the safety team and site supervisor throughout the operation.

• Prevent unauthorized entry into the confined space.

• Accurately log and report any incidents or observations.

Eligibility Criteria:

• Education: Minimum 12th standard or equivalent.

• Experience: Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in shutdown projects or confined space operations.

• Communication: Basic proficiency in English (spoken and understood).

• Certifications: Confined Space Safety or HSE-related training preferred (if applicable).

• Availability: Ready to join on short notice for shutdown assignments.
