Job Purpose 

The Key Account Manager is responsible for managing and developing strategic customer relationships within the Food & Beverage sector, driving profitable sales growth through strong commercial management, negotiation, and cross-functional collaboration. The role acts as the primary commercial interface between Amcor and key customers, identifying and delivering growth opportunities while contributing to the transformation of Amcor's packaging portfolio.

 

Job Dimensions & Scope

The role operates within the Rigid Packaging Solutions International division with a focus on the Food & Beverage sector across Europe, with a preference for candidates based in Denmark. The position carries significant commercial responsibility, managing a customer portfolio with a budget responsibility of approximately €60–70 million. The role works within a large and experienced sales team and reports directly to the Sales Director. No direct reports.

 

Principal Accountabilities

  • Customer Relationship Management — Own and develop long-term relationships with key customers, acting as the primary day-to-day commercial contact and ensuring a consistent and high-quality customer experience
  • Commercial & Negotiation — Lead pricing, contract and terms negotiations to deliver sustainable profitability and achieve sales targets
  • Business Development — Identify and pursue growth opportunities within the existing customer portfolio, building business cases for new opportunities and contributing to portfolio expansion
  • Cross-functional Collaboration — Work closely with internal teams including Sales Leadership, Research & Development, Operations and Supply Chain to align on customer needs and deliver solutions
  • Portfolio Transformation — Actively contribute to the shift of the packaging portfolio towards sustainable materials including post-consumer recycled content, in line with evolving packaging regulations and customer expectations
  • Reporting & Forecasting — Maintain accurate sales forecasts, pipeline information and account plans in line with internal processes and tools

  • Managing complex, high-value customer relationships in a competitive and fast-evolving packaging market
  • Navigating internal matrix structures to coordinate across multiple functions and deliver a seamless customer experience
  • Driving portfolio transformation towards sustainable packaging solutions while maintaining commercial performance
  • Balancing short-term sales delivery with long-term strategic account development

 

Qualifications/Requirements

 

  1. Formal Qualifications and Experience
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a Key Account Management or Business-to-Business sales role
  • Background in the Food & Beverage industry is essential
  • Experience in rigid plastics or packaging is strongly preferred, though candidates from adjacent technical backgrounds will also be considered
  • Degree in Business, Sales, Marketing or a related field preferred
  • Willingness to travel regularly across the region

 

  1.  Specific Skills and Abilities
  • Proven commercial and negotiation skills with a track record of delivering sales targets
  • Technical understanding of rigid plastics and manufacturing processes — flexibility considered for strong commercial profiles
  • Strong ability to work and coordinate across internal functions in a matrixed environment
  • Fluent in English — additional European languages are a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of sustainability and circular economy principles is a plus
  • Experience in injection moulding is a nice to have
