At TAL, the TPD CoE Technical Specialist plays a pivotal role in applying deep technical expertise to ensure claims are assessed with precision, consistency and fairness. By guiding complex decision-making and strengthening technical standards across our claims teams, this role helps uphold the integrity of our products and the promises we make to customers. In This Role You Will:
- Provide expert technical advice to enable accurate, consistent and policy-aligned TPD claims decisions
- Influence complex case outcomes by applying strong technical assessment and evidence-based insights
- Drive continuous improvement in assessment quality, consistency and standards across TPD portfolios
- Build and uplift team capability through targeted training, coaching and embedding best practice frameworks
- Strengthen governance and compliance by ensuring adherence to claims philosophy, standards and regulatory requirements
- Leverage insights and emerging trends to enhance processes, improve performance and deliver better customer outcomes
Qualifications
- 10+ years' experience in life insurance claims within technical or leadership roles
- Deep expertise in TPD claims and end-to-end assessment processes
- Strong knowledge of medico-legal frameworks, ETE, employability and policy definitions
- Sound understanding of regulatory requirements including the Life Insurance Code of Practice, ICA and privacy principles
- Ability to build capability and confidence in others through training and guidance
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence outcomes constructively
